how can i clean my north face backpack?

school starts on monday, and i used my backpack all summer for work *at a sailing camp. so my backpack smells like musty salt water and sunscreen, sand, etc. is there a way i can wash it besides the washing machine? i'm fine with using the washing machine i just dont want to risk it not being dry enough on the first day of school if i air dry it.

get some baby shampoo and put it in the sink fll with luke warm water and soak and agitate with your hands for about 5 minutes. rinces with cool water and hang dry. if doesnt get all out do again but with less shampoo. i would NOT use detergent! its to strong and may damage it.

the type of backpack i want if u can find it is like a baby blue/light blue or white color either roxy or north face or jansport preferably atleast as big as 17x10x9
