the beco or the ergo? im a very small person with a 22lb ten month old and i want to be able to wear it for a while
Answer
the backpack or the front-pack type carriers will KILL your back. they're dreadful - i'm short, too, and my daughter was 28lbs at 10mo.
use this one - you can even make it yourself. you can carry front (at 28lbs, she put *zero* stress on my lower back and shoulders as long as i kept the "sleeves" pulled all the way down), side (on the hip), cradle (for small babies), and back: http://www.mamankangourou.com/pdfs/instruction_7_en.pdf
it looks tricky and complicated but once you see how it works, it's two shakes of a duck's tail to get it together.
