Where can I find a child carrier like this?

Im trying to find a site where they sell the baby carrier backpacks, they are cloth and usually tan there is no metal frame of anything. Does anyone know where to find one?

DO NOT GET THE SNUGLI, bjorn, or others like this. They are bad for babies spine and hips, and soon hurt mom's back. Good ones that distribute weight correctly are the Ergo, the Baby Hawk, the Beco and similar brands. You pay much more, but you can comfortably carry a 25 pound 2 year old in these carriers. The good carriers have baby sitting on their bums, the snugli dangles baby from the crotch.

I have used the Ergo for a 25 pound 2 year old, and I loved my ring sling from this site. I'm now using a Baby Hawk Oh Snap for the 2 yr old, I'm in a baby wearing network in town and we all share slings and carriers.

I use the Ergo carrier. It was recommended to me by my best friend who had a 10.5 lb baby and had back issues before said baby. She very much like attachment parenting (where the parent wears the child for extended periods of time) for her babies as they responded very well to the contact. She had tried several types and found the Ergo to be the only one that didn't leave her crippled.

I like it because it is very versatile. When my daughter was a newborn, I used the infant insert and wore her in a sling-type position. Now that she is older, I wear her on my front facing me (The one drawback to the Ergo is that you can't face the baby outwards). My husband, however, prefers to wear her on his back. She has always been comfortable in the Ergo and tends to fall asleep in it. Yeah! I have not had any back problems and my baby is BIG (9.5 lbs at birth). HTH

Things to do with a 14 month old baby in Hawaii?

We're traveling to Hawaii in April with our baby girl who will be 14 months. We're going to all the islands and I don't know what activities we'll really be able to do while there. We live in Miami so the beach isn't the main attraction for us. I purchased a baby carrier/backpack and an all terrain stroller to get around. Is there any hiking to do with a tough stroller? Carrying the baby for a month on our backs will not be easy. Any suggestions?

There are some easy hikes on Oahu that might be doable with a heavy duty stroller, boomer gal has one idea. Thereis also Koko Head (by Hawaii Kai) and Makiki Valley (which is wide enough as it is used every day heavily). Also Diamond Head is doable (not the rougher areas). There is a Children's Discovery Center nearer to downtown that would be fun and it features Hawaiana. There is also the Bishop Museum which might be interesting for a child.

I love to participate in my child's school, and her teacher wants me (and I also want) to be room mom, but I explained how I am "limited" on what I can do since I have an 8 month old as well to take care of, (I breastfeed to, so having him on a schedule isn't an option). My child's also in 1st grade..Any suggestions to be really involved? thanks!

Bring your baby along in a sling.

My breastfed babies have been so portable! When they're that young, they're not yet into things. I have taken them everywhere with me at that age, either in my sling or in my Ergo backpack carrier. When they fussed, I simply nursed them.

There's no need to pub your baby on a schedule. You are wise to realize this. (Can an 8-month-old tell time? No. They need what they need when they need it.) There's also no need to express milk and leave the baby.

I'm a bit of a germ freak. Someone mentioned not taking your baby at all because of germs, but there are things you can do. Hold your baby in your arms or a carrier. Set a ground rule about children not touching your baby's hands or mouth, and you're all set. Besides, if there's something out there, your older child is bringing it home from school anyway. And what a bonus that your milk is protecting your baby with your immunities!
