Suggestions for a baby/toddler backpack?

My husband and I are planning on doing some camping/backpacking once the weather warms up (it's still snowing where we live and we're beginning to wonder what Spring is) and we are in need of a baby/toddler backpack. My son is 10 months old and weighs in at a nice, healthy 35 pounds so an INFANT carrier is out of the question. He is much to heavy for those. I am referring to the ones with a large frame that carry ~50 pounds or more. I have no idea what names are good and reliable and research I've done hasn't turned up very good answers. Anyone with a suggestion, please let me hear it! Thanks!

We have a Kelty Kids backpack. It is wonderful. It is quite comfortable to wear, easy to put on and my son loves being in it (he's 14 months and around 25-30lbs). We camp and it is a lifesaver --- we bought it to use in place of our Ergo carrier on long hikes/camping.

We managed to find a gently used one on craiglist for about half of the new price.

Will sharpie markers bleed off my jansport backpack in the rain?

I bought a backpack that looked baby pink but when I got it it was really bright. I don't like it and I can't return it so I'm thinking of colouring the front in in black sharpie. Will it bleed off onto my clothes if it rains?

Have any of you ever done this??
Oh and the bag is polyester I think

Buy some colored fabric markets at a craft store like Michael's and forget the Sharpies.

Sharpie is fairly permanent on paper, but not so much on other materials. I know this from experience.

How to manage several travel bags?

I will be traveling abroad with my husband & baby.
The bags I will have are :
2 backpacks for baby stuff and documents,cash etc
1 laptop bag
3 BIG boxes (to be checked in)
How do we move them around
>>from the parking lot,
>>in the airport between transits etc

My baby needs to be held,she will NOT be in a stroller.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks Leigh W .. but how about from the car(long term parking) to the terminal is quite a walk!! No carts there!

you can usally pull up to the curb at the airport then you can unload and then you or your husband can take the car out the parking while the other waits with the things

The cheapest way to go from Narita Airport to downtown Tokyo would be to take Keisei line's limited express ( ç¹æ¥) for about 1000 yen and it takes only about 20 minutes more than their express "Skyliner" which cost 1920 yen. Also, by taking the train, you avoid the possibility of getting stuck in traffic.

I need to purchase a baby backpack type carrier for our upcoming vacation. My little one will be 14 months old by then. She currently weighs around 25 pounds. Suggestions, critiques needed. Thanks

We have a Patapum baby carrier - which can be both front and back carry.
It's a soft carrier, very comfortable for both myself and my partner to wear our 11.5 month old daughter (approx 24lbs.)

We have used snugglys and slings, and have tried wraps, but the carrier is our favourite (for an older baby especially) - as it positions their weight perfectly, and you can easily walk around for 2+ hours with no twinges or aches.

Comes in blue, black and khaki - we have the khaki.
