Need review for the baby items...?

Hi all...I am in my third trimester. I am going to register baby items at Babies r us this weekend. This is my first baby and I am not sure which items and brands should I pick is safe and comfortble for my baby and pricewise reasonable too. Please give me the review about the baby items and items I do need must. Thank you all.
Thank you all ....for sparing your precious time and giving me lots of information in detail. I am new in this country and first time mom. So, not much idea how to choose the right baby items. But your patience and support helped me alot to select the right things for my baby too instead of wasting money. I am going to print out all those information and check out those items in the store. I highly suggest taking a (relatively) new mom with you to register. My sister (who had a 2 year old at the time) went with me to register and she was a HUGE Help.

Here are a few suggestions.

There has been a lot of press recently about car seats so I'm sure you can google which ones are safest. The one that sticks in my head (b/c it's the one we have) is Graco Snug and ride. I would recomend getting a Snap and Go base so that you can turn the carseat into a stoller.

The crib is totally a matter of taste. We chose the Da Vinci Roxanne because I liked that it could transition into a toddler bed and I liked that it had a drawer under it.

If you get a changing table, make sure it has safety straps (so that baby can't roll off it). We choose the Da Vinci Roxanne changing table dresser combo.

Gift registry for 2nd baby (same gender)?

It almost doesn't even feel right to have a baby shower for our 2nd baby, because it's another boy. And I can't even seem to think of enough stuff that we would need to justify having one. This one will be born in winter, while our first was born in spring, but it's cold 11 months out of the year up here in the NW, and I feel like the clothes for our first son would be warm enough in December. Our first born has outgrown pretty much all of the stuff we need for the newborn except for a crib. Here's all I can think of:

Crib (contributions towards one)
Mattress for Crib
Double stroller (contributions towards one) <---unsure...are they a hassle?
Diapers
Bigger diaper bag (hopefully one big enough for both of the boys)
Decorations (It feels wrong to take down my 1st son's; his room would be so boring!)
Night bear
2nd Baby Monitor
Clothes (don't need many; maybe just a few sets of warmer clothes in smaller sizes)

Any suggestions of things that I could be forgetting? Anything that you didn't have but wish you did with your babies?
I'm not asking your opinion on whether to have the shower or not...I'm asking for suggestions on a gift registry. Thanks.

I have a diaper clutch for our 2 YO. All she needs to go out is a diaper or two wipes and a snack so I dont carry a bag for her. Occassionally I will use my one Coach tote that is coated cotton; it's a bit more spring/summer and I can hold tons in it for longer days out. But my clutch is a PPB Cake Clutch my hubby got for me last year. I think it was like $100. However it is also a purse. In the fall/winter mostly it is my purse as well as her bag (when shes not with me I take her stuff out and just use it for me). If you didnt know who made it and everything you'd NEVER guess it was a diaper clutch. it's black french cut velvet and tweed underneath. I am Due in dec. and want the bigger ba (trying to decide between the society satchel and cosmopolitan carryall if you have one to give me a review)! ANyway I am leaning toward the cosmopolitan one because it can TOTALLY be a handbag after the fact. And I would prob get it in black also. THe other style is more distinctly a baby bag and is an odd shape for a purse. These bags run about $325-$350 depending which style. To me I went through 4 $50-60 diaper bags in the first year our daughter was born because they kept ripping or they werent as functional as they originally seemed. ANd they are NOTHING I could ever use as a purse. I breastfeed so only need it for my stuff diapers, snack and a change of clothes. ANd I take exceptional care of things so it's not goin to be "runied" by using it for baby. I am just wondering if any other moms (given you are/were able to spend the money) would do so on a really goreous bag that can double as a handbag ect. Or what is the max you'd spend on a bag? I mean I cant see any woman turning it down if someone offered it to them; but i know that some women even if they had/have the money still wouldnt spend it. I LOVE bags in general and since I use the diaper bag as my bag then I want something I LOVE to carry. Before baby I would spend that much on my own bags; so being the only bag I carry I find no reason not tp spend it now.
if you look at the Cake collection not the orignial the 2 styles the cosmo clutch and carryall look very much like handbags. I agree the original collection with silk fab. looks like a diaper bag; but if you look at the Cake collection spec. then no they dont.

If I had the money for a large Coach tote, I would totally buy it. But, I have a really nice camouflage diaper dude from Nordstrom. It was a gift for my baby shower. It is less like a porse and more like a backpack, but I love it, and my husband doesn't mind carrying it either. I only have one boy and another boy on the way, so it helps that the diaper bag is very masculine. But, yes, I'd pay the money if I could afford a $300-400 bag!

First of all, Congratulations on your newborn!!!
These are the criteria on getting a stroller.
Ask yourself these,

1) Are you and your partner have an active lifestyle?
Do you intend to jog around with baby in tow?

2) Do you drive?

3) Is $$$$ an issue or do you have a fixed budget to invest on a good stroller?

Price wise...Hmm depends if you are willing to fork out some dough. One thing for sure, strollers like those from quinny will make heads turn and more space in your care once it's folded.

always think of your partner when she does her shopping alone without you, make sure she can manage to open the stroller with one hand. Choose strollers that is "one hand hold" for easier handling and that your partner can manage to close or open the stroller on her own.

Remember this pointers

1) Baby is comfortable and safe.
2) Stroller is lightweight and manageable with simple yet useful functions
