Any baby wearers out there?

My son is just over 20lbs and a wiggly little worm.
The ring sling I love is no longer as happy for both of us. We are looking for alternatives. Anyone care to share what the they use? The only thing I am not really interested in trying are the metal-framed backpacks.

**We also do have a stroller for him. I am specifically looking for baby wearing options.

HI! I have used several different carriers - Over the Shoulder Baby Holder (baby 1 and 2), unpadded Maya Wrap (baby 2), Kissasling (baby 2 and 3), padded maya wrap (baby 3 and 4), Moby Wrap (baby 1 and 4), Kozi Carrier -Mei Tai style (baby 2, 3, and 4), and Ergo (baby 4).
Once my kids got to be over 20 pounds, I prefer the padded Maya Wrap and the Ergo. I love my Ergo. It was a great investment. It is so much more comfortable than my Kozi and the baby always falls asleep. I recommend the Ergo for long periods of baby wearing and the Lightly Padded Maya Wrap for quick trips to the store, etc.

baby hand holder?

i have a 3 yr old VERY ACTIVE boy. I used to use http://www.ebay.ph/viItem?ItemId=230057824899 when we shop, but I read in the internet that the holder has lead content. Where can I buy a similar one that is safe for my kid?

Walmart has one that is much safer than the holder around the wrist. It is a harness around the waist and shoulders. They have different ones, one has its own little backpack attachment to make your little one feel grown up. The hand harness, or leash as my husband calls it. Isnt really safe, it can hurt your little ones wrist or arm if he tries to pull away. It can also pull through the loop too tightly and then you have to cut it off his arm. I know that from experiance when we took my son to Sea World. Trust me, the harness is much better choice to go with.

What are some practical gifts or devices that a mother of multiples would use or want?

Q. A very dear friend of mine is pregnant with triplets. I only have one child, and absolutely no experience in caring for multiples. I want to get her a few practical gifts or devices that will help with the babies. I will be helping her to take care of the babies, helping out with the laundry, cooking, cleaning, housework, or any errands she might need me to do.

I've purchased a used triplet jogging stroller, three electric baby swings and three new Itzbeen Baby Care timers, to help her keep track of feedings, diaper changes, and naps. I've also purchased a backpack from 31 gifts, and I had her name embroidered on it. I can't think of anything else.

Could anyone help me with some more ideas for practical gifts or devices that a mother of multiples would use or want?

It sounds like you've got it all under control.

Generally it's the parents that buy the pram, which I would think is a good enough gift.

I agree with the other answerer - Your support and help around the house is the best gift you can give her apart from a full night's sleep.

The only other thing I can think of is bottles. She's having triplets, and she may want to breastfeed, but some people find it hard enough breastfeeding one, let alone 2. If you want her to be really prepared, I'd go out and buy a few really good quality bottles that come with peristaltic nipples (that mimic the "real" nipple feeling). I'd say two per child would do alright to start with.

Nappies nappies nappies. One baby will go through 4 - 8 nappies per day. Times that by 3, and you've got a crisis, especially if she's using cloth nappies. Ask what she's planning on using, and go out and buy her some. Huggies are good disposable ones, and (I'm not sure of brands) but there are cloth nappies that are already in the shape of the nappy (instead of the squares you fold and pin together). They're about $15 - 30 per nappy, but apparently they're worth it.

Dummy holders (or pacifier holders) I'm not sure if she wants to use a pacifier, but get about 6 holders (the things that clip onto their tshirts and have the dummy at the other end so it never gets lost) These things are FANTASTIC for teething rings once the babies are old enough for toys. Clip it on when you go out to the shops, and you won't have to worry about it when they drop the toy! (Unless they pull the clip off their tshirt)


Wipes. Every mum needs at least 300 packets of wipes. (That's right. No extra 0's in that sentence)


I don't have triplets, but I do have 3 children, and even my older children still use wipes for their faces, hands etc. It's a quick clean when you're out of time.

How do you carry your baby when you go out?

When you go out with your baby, what do you use to carry him or her around? I'm just wondering which items I should get before my little one is born, so I thought I'd ask all of the moms & dads - which item(s) do you use the most when you go out? and why do you prefer to carry them that way?

I agree with the car seat in stroller. The reason I like this, is purely CONVENIENCE! When you use this method, your baby is already in the car seat in the car, you simply unbuckle the car seat from it's position, press the carrier's release button, and wah-lah the car seat is free to go with you. Next, your husband pulls the stroller around and the carseat clicks right into place, than the car seat and stroller both have a canopy that connects, so baby is better protected from wind, rain, and loud noises. You can stroller baby around which is great, because trust me, baby's get heavy overtime and tired arms make for tired moms. The stroller makes for a smooth ride, and you can use the under carriage to store baby's items, diapers, spit-up rags, extra bottles or whatever, plus they usually come equipped with a cup holder which is perfect to hold a drink of your choice while you are moving around the store.

The super positive points:

If baby is sleeping, you don't have to wake the baby at all when you leave him/her in the carseat, you don't have to worry about anyone bumping into baby on accident, because they were not paying attention to your precious bundle you were carrying in your arms.

If you are in a grocery store, and don't need a stroller, the car seat carrier should just click right into the cart, and again, you won't have to wake baby up, or worry about how dirty the pre-provided baby carrier that comes with some shopping cart might be.
