question about twins? this or that?

princesa<3

if you or someone you know or just in general have twin or pregnant with them heres a question for you would you have your babies share a

- same crib ?
- highchair
-playpin
- room
- diaper bag
and so on...

or would you have both of them have there own separate for each thing or some the same & some not?

Answer
I am currently 18 weeks with boy/girl twins. First time mother. I plan to have them share a crib. I have heard they make special things for twins to share a crib safely. I personally from researching and asking around A LOT plan on having double of everything. I do plan on two cribs because they can't both fit in one for more than a couple months. One playpen-They make travel cribs that have double bassinets on them for twins! There are special expensive diapers bags for twins but I have been told that using a backpack is the best way to go especially when you have one in each arm. I am keeping them in the same room so its easier on me until they are maybe about 4 years old or maybe even older. There is enough room for them to share and its easier to make night trips into ONE bedroom instead of two. Most twins sleep better together from what I have heard. You should look into getting separate highchairs or something you can feed them at the same time with. I plan to keep mine on the same schedule as much as possible so if you have the help or can manage to feed both at the same time you will need two chairs. You also can't leave one crying watching his/her twin eating while they have to wait either. I plan to take turns spooning it into each twins mouths if I am alone. If you have help two baths or what we plan to do is probably only give one bath a night and rotate nights for each baby unless my husband is around we can bathe them at the same time. If you have any questions on anything we have a lot of this already figured out with what will work best for us and I can throw you some ideas and ideas of what other people do (even ones that I do not plan to do myself) everyone has different ways to do things that work best for them :) Also TWO swings and two vibrating chairs...I heard babies can be picky and you can't have two crying for the same thing that you only have one of! Good luck!

I am scared.how to take care of twins.?

Answer
Hi twins mama! First thing you need to do is have some confidence. You are their mama and you will be fine!

Second thing you need to do is GET ORGANIZED before your help leave.

I will give you some examples of how we planned our twin day when my babies were newborns.

Go buy enough bottles to use for a day and night (around 20). Measure all bottles for the entire day and put them in the frig or wait to add the water. My husband would make sure all bottles were clean and all powdered formula measured into them for the entire days worth of feedings before he left for the house. So during the day I would just fill up the bottles with water and shake, warm them up and pop them into their mouths (at the same time even if one is asleep, they will start sucking). Get the feedings scheduled together or you will be feeding babies all day.

Have enough safe places to set one baby while you are dressing, changing, holding the other baby. I say "safe" because I have a dog and I always set one in a swing, playpen or bouncy seat and strapped them in if I was taking care of the other one. Another thing that makes life easier is to get two extra bouncy seats for the bathroom - so you can shower and get ready and strap them into their bouncy seats and talk to them while you are getting ready for your day. As they got older I learned to do this before my husband left for work, but for the first 10 months or so they would sit in the bouncy seats and hang out. Good time to start singing them ABC's.

Nighttime - we used one bassinet when they were very small next to the bed to put both in. Then we used a crib for awhile NEXT to the bed. This is a personal choice, but I chose next to the bed so that I could do the feedings and everything and get sleep in between. I was a bottle propping queen. I would lie them next to me and prop the bottles and hold them and all that and swaddle them and pop them back in bed. You have to get the swaddle technique down if you have a baby that has a "witching hour". A time at night when they seem inconsolable. If that happens you swaddle them tight and shush them.

We would bring anything we may need during the night - formula, diapers, wipes, extra pacifiers and pjs. I actually emptied the top drawer of my nightstand and put diapers, pj's wipes in there. Used a nightlight instead of a bright light and never left the room.

Another piece of equipment that saved me. I was afraid to go out by myself until I bought a Snap n Go stroller. It is a lightweight stroller frame that you just pop the carseats into and strap on easily and go. It is the best thing ever for moms of multiples!!! I got so bored waiting 2 months to leave the house that when they were old enough I took them on walks and to the grocery store and used the snap n go! VERY EASY to use and a big compartment underneath to put things while you shop.

Also, get a backpack or a diaper bag that easily straps to your stroller. It is a huge pain to have to carry a diaper bag on you and always have a baby in your arms.

Do not be scared! If I can do this - so can you.

Also, do a search and find a twins club or moms of multiples group/club to join. All the twin moms have great info and most of the clubs have online chats and meet for playgroups and new mom activities.

Email me if any of this didn't make sense or you have any other questions. My twins are b/g and 2 1/2 years old. Enjoy your babies and try not to stress.

Hello,

My cousin is about to have preemie twin girls and Iâd really like to get her some things that would truly be useful to her. So my question is for all the moms, what was truly useful to make you and your babies more comfortable, relaxed, happyâ¦

I know a helping hand would be very useful but she lives across the county and she does have family there to help her with that. Iâm honestly looking for materialistic things that would really help her without just being âclutterâ All suggestions are welcome, thank you for reading this. :)

Answer
I have a 2 1/2 month old, and throughout this time, I kept writing down the things that really came in handy for me and things that I could have done without. Some of the things that are really really helpful for me are:

1. Bottle Warmer - I pumped my breastmilk due to inverted nipples that made it hard for me to breastfeed so in the middle of the night I had to have bottles ready. This warmer has done wonders cause I kept it in our bedroom and it has a cooler that holds two bottles. It helped me avoid going out to the kitchen and made my life a lot easier. Whether she is breastfeeding via pump or bottlefeeding, this warmer really helps.

2. My breast friend - this is an alternative to the boppy. I still find multiple uses for my boppy, however, boppys don't provide the best support when breastfeeding. My brest friend is sturdier and provides much better support for your back and shoulders when breastfeeding. It also allows you to transport the baby to their crib when sleeping, holding her on there without alot of movement.

3. A backpack for babies or sling - this worked miracles for me with my newborn during those stages when she really wanted to be next to mommy all the time. Before this, I found myself bound to the bedroom feeling guilty if I didn't hold her, but once I put her in the carrier, I was able to cook, clean and feel liberated to do things around the house. I recently discovered the Moby wrap. I don't know how this would work with twins, but it can help with one at a time. Go to www.mobywrap.com.

4. Glider - Oh my gosh.........this thing works wonders with putting the baby to sleep or comforting them when needed.

5. Swing - she tends to enjoy this as well, and often times she goes to sleep here.

6. Sleeper Bags - These are very helpful to avoid unbuttoning a lot of clothes in those midnight hours. My husband loved these also.

7. Breastfeeding Bras - some say you don't need these but they were a God send for me, even when pumping. They would help hold the pump in place so my hands could be free to do other things. And believe me, I pumped a lot.

8. A Breast Pump - I invested in the Medela Pump that runs about $300 or $280, I can't remember. This was such a worthwhile investment. Whoever says the manual pumps are okay have never had to pump before. I believe in investing in the top of the line when it comes to pumping.

9. Gift Cards - my friends gave me tons of gift cards for my shower(s) and they were so handy. It helped me during those times I wasn't working and needed things for the baby.

10. Diapers - Find out what kind of diapers she prefers to use for them and stock up. I am still surviving off of the diapers we recv'd from our shower.

11. Burping Clothes - I prefered the kind that are like diapers. they can be purchased in WalMart where you get 12 for $12. I can't seem to get enough of these.

12. Bibs - I never knew bibs were so expensive. Get tons of these for later. They don't tend to use as much when newborns, but at around 2 months, they start to drool more and it helps when you burp them and they spit up. I never had many so it caused me to change her clothes a whole lot more.

If she doesn't mind second hand items, I highly recommend shopping for used baby items on www.craigslist.com. You can find great deals on their for things like the glider or swing.

Hope this helps!

What is the best double stroller out there?

What is the best double stroller out of these options::::

Phil & Teds
Baby Jogger City Select Double
Kolcraft Contours
Graco DuoGlider

Any reviews?

Answer
Most definitely the Baby Jogger City Select! I have one myself and I love it for several reasons

1. Can be used as double, or single when one gets too big for it (and then back again if you have another!
2. the option of the bassinet casing for a seat, which later converts back, also love the carseat adapters... very easy to use and remove.
3. Super easy to fold up, and fold FLAT. All in one simple motion
4. Lots of storage options. The storage area underneath expands, and the handlebars have lots of accessory options, including full size backpacks. And, they don't tip even when you have a lot of weight on the handle bars.
5. Very maneuverable. I live in Boston with legendarily uneven sidewalks. I can get around just fine, and without too much bouncing.
6. Accessories: a self leveling drink holder (you have no idea how great that is on hilly roads). Storage cover- compact enough to use as carry-on on international flights. Belly bar- instead of food tray (also available) the belly bar gives something for kids to grab onto and allows them to lean out more. This was perfect for the zoo and watching the duckies go by.
7. Adorable! It does not look like any other stroller out there, yet has a nearly old world charm in the dark colors (I got black). I get questions all the time on it.
8. great if you baby wear- I wore my infant in a wrap while pushing my twins in the stroller. The handlebar was just the right height for me not to struggle.

Downsides? Can be costly to get new accessories, not the best 'jogger' but will do ok, not usually on sale.

tell me what the first 3 months of twins is like?

Who am I?

Can someone truthfully tell me what the first 3 months of twins is like? And the first year? Is it crazy and insane always? When do you (and when do they!) settle into the routine? Do you always feel stressed and like there is not enough of you to go around? What about if there is an older sibling to care for as well? Details details, please!!! :-)
And also, at what point can you go out and about and not feel like the effort of packing strollers and diaper bags is not worth the errand?

Answer
Well. my b/g twins will be 3 months next week and it hasn't been to terrible. The first 6-7 weeks were like I was in a fog! Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing! They were eating every hour and one was ALWAYS awake! I took to feeding them in bed with me just so I could grab a few minutes of sleep before the other woke up! About the two month mark they started sleeping about 4 hrs a night and I felt like a new woman! Now they have regulated to where they are mostly awake at the same time though they do have slightly different day time nap schedules and sleep at night at the same time. :)! I have a daughter that is 17 and she and my husband are a big help! All the kids tend to rotate so everyone gets special mommy time. My twins are funny how they do it! One will wake up from their nap about 1/2 hour before the other and my daughter gets me all to herself after my husband has left for work and the twins are down for the night. When we run an errend we just keep them in their car seats. The seats fit right into shopping carts and if we go to the mall we don't take a stroller (even though we leave one in the van) we just strap them into snuggies for our walk. We don't take a big diaper bag with us if we are just running around town-we have a couple of bags that look like backpacks and we just have a few diapers and wipes in them-just enough for a quick change as needed. If we go out of town then we take one of the big bags that have a couple of clothing changes and the med kits and such. As we haven't gotten though the 1st year yet I can't answer that but I hope it stays kinda like it is now! Its so much fun! Our new favorite game is "pass the baby". You get extra points if you can pass a baby with a "special" surprise and make a clean getaway!
