Baby Diaper / Bottle Storage?

I'm finding that nothing seems to have a place anymore.

okay.

So, I often change my girl in the living room on my sofas (with a change pad of course) when no one but myself is here and I'm trying to find the best way to tote diapers (and accessories) and bottles.

... I've tried using a diaper bag and found that it wasn't what I'm seeking... I tried a wicker basket and again... nope.

I need something that will hold diapers, wipes, cloths, receiving blankets, lotion, bottles and formula in a compact yet easy to find way. I would also like to keep my living room looking like a living room.... not massive diaper change tables or anything like that... just something small in the corner beside my sofa...

kinda like a magazine rack would be-

I have a feeling that I'm going to have to go back to the diaper bag concept but hope that someone will be able to advise me of the perfect item.

I found them both to be helpful yet not quite what I wanted. I spent hours searching online for just the right thing and as I was about to give up I got an idea... magazine racks.

I had the same problem. I dont think I ever changed my baby girl (3 months) in her room. I tried the same things as you also. the diaper bag was a pain to open and close all the different compartments all the time. what I now use and have been for like a month is the bag type thing my babies crib bumper set came in. Its kind of plastic and see through and its square. it works perfectly for me beacuse its square so its not odd shaped and its big enough to hold everything. Also, I didnt have to buy anything.

some other suggestions:
1. go to babycenter.com and go to the search bar and type in diaper organizer. the first one that shows by Munchkin is not too expensive and can work for the corner of you living room also
2. maybe a simple backpack
3. small tote
4. go to walmart.com and type in the search bar dex ultimate baby diaper & tolietries organizer. its also not too expensive and can work in the corner
5. type in storage totes at walmart.com - they have some pretty good ones that have handles and you can pick a certain color to match the room

So when my son was younger I had the big diaper bag with just about everything in it. And I didn't use half the stuff in it.

My son is 13 months and we now have a little backpack type diaper bag. And I only carry diapers,wipes, snacks, sippy cup, infant Tylenol, hand sanitizer, and disposable bibs.

I don't even carry an extra outfit in there anymore- I probably should though! :P

What are in ya'lls diaper bags? Do you pack less now that your baby is older?

Our babies were born the same day May 2nd 2008 :-)

My diaper bag consists of blanket, extra pair of clothes, diapers and wipes, bandaids and lotion. Food bag consists of sippy cup and snacks.
You are right, the diaper bag is getting lighter as she getting older.

Brianna was born 8:20pm.

What should I bring when travelling with my baby?

My baby will be five months old when I travel and I will be out of the conuntry for a month. What should I bring with me?

Hopefully you are nursing. Then you don't have to deal with worrying about water quality or hauling formula.

If you us formula- use POWDER...and only bottled water....and insist the bottles be brought to you UNOPENED so you can see the seal....then you know they weren't refilled.

Bring orajel and baby tylenol...and any over the counter medication you use for baby. You don't want to need to rely on meds in another language.

Carry diapers for a week and wipes. Don't drag a months worth. Every country has diapers. Lay in your stock as soon as you get there. Put the wipes in a ziploc bag- less space.

Disposable bibs.

Only 2-3 SIMPLE toys.

Car seat. This can double as a "highchair." I've even hauled car seats into movie theaters. The weight holds the seat down, and my kids were always happy to sit in their carseat if they were watching a movie.

Umbrella stroller and a baby backpack. Backpacks are easier than slings when they are that age- and when you have luggage.

Baby will be on cereal by then....depending on where you are going, you should be able to get dry cereals. Again....watch the water!

A blanket or toy baby associates with their bed. this will make the sleeping arrangements seem more homey.

If you will be travelling across more than 1 time zone...start adjusting baby to the new schedule 2 days for every time zone you are crossing (30 minutes a day)...so your travel day is the second to last day of adjustment......don't forget to reverse it on your way back.....it's good for you, too----you won't lose time to jet lag.


Keep with you on travel days.....a bag with EVERYTHING baby would need for 3 days...and then a few more diapers. When our 3rd was a month old, my husband and I tok her across the country with us on a business trip....and rest trip for me. She nursed, so no problem there....but the airline LOST the bag with her "gear." I was so glad I had 3 days supplies for her....it took that long to get her bag back!

The other people gave a good list of items. One lifesaver for me was a container with small disposable bags for when a poop happens at a friends house.

Advice: Make an emergency bag and throw it in the trunk of your car. I filled up a backpack with water, individual formula packets, a couple bottles, diapers, wipes, a roll of paper towels (trust me, it comes in handy) extra clothes, sunscreen, snacks, ect. Unless you have a diaper bag the size of a shopping cart, you just can't carry everything around. My advice, take a small diaper bag with just the essentials and have the other bag for backup. Afterall, you will forget things from time to time.
