Most useful and well liked Baby Toys and Equiptment?

Any favorite toys or equiptment(ie strollers,highchairs etc)
Any that you found especially useful,convenient,
or that baby thought was fun.
Any recommendations?
No I am NOT pregnant.
Compiling a list for baby shower gifts,and thought who knows better than people who are already Parents,what could be most useful.

-I loved the Snugli carrier- we also used a sling.
-nursing clothes by Motherwear (check ebay for deals) are great for nursing in public if you plan to. Lansinoh breast pads were the best.
-I can say with confidence that I will never buy a highchair again- I would save the money and get the $14 Walmart one that straps to a chair- it's just as good!
-For a stroller, definitely pick one that you can open and close with one hand. Anything else is too much of a pain- especially if you fly.
-Happy Baby manual food grinder- you can take it anywhere and just grind up your healthy family dinner for baby.
-My son's fave toy was the Ball Blaster, the balls swirl down and come out the bottom.
-car seat- definitely the Britax Roundabout- it's a little more pricey but the easiest one I have ever used. For an infant seat I liked the Stay In View by Fisher Price but they stopped making it and it would be hard to find new now. (I had a hard time 3 yrs ago w. my youngest!) I liked the carry strap.
-I have a First Years vinyl changing pad that has pockets for a couple diapers and travel wipes- it was great.
-I would suggest a backpack instead of a diaper bag, it's just so much easier! If you don't bottle feed, they really don't need much space- I have thrown the changer (above) and a couple toys into my purse and been fine.

My ultimate advice- babies need far less crap than you think. With each child my list of "things needed for baby" just gets smaller and smaller.

hello, we are going on a vacation on May 21....i know doesnt leave me much time ...any way im looking for a rain coat for our little girl she is two and where we are going is a good chance of rain we have a backpack carrier that is water proof but i dont think that will do so can anyone help me out? either a online store or a store store like target i checked walmart and couldnt find one i dont want to go threw ebay.Thanks bunches!!

I work at the Old Navy warehouse and I can assure you they have cute Raincoats, rain hats, rain boots and umbrellas. I wanted to get them but I have a boy. Gap baby does as well.

Have you ever done grocery shopping with your baby?

Just Me!

I need to do my grocery shopping for Thanksgiving and we have not been able to get it done individually because my husband works two jobs and we haven't had the time. He has to work again today and again tonight from 4-8. Should I just shop when he gets off from work?

I hate not being confident enough to just take the baby and go shop, you know. I see ladies do it all the time I just never tried it. My husband and I went to Walmart the other day and I tried to snap the carrier onto the cart and it didn't fit! I was like what the heck! So now I'm afraid of doing it at the grocery store because it my carrier may not fit, and I tried to snap it both directions too. And what if she starts crying in the store when I'm halfway done and I have to take her out and hold her. So many worries.

What do you guys do to get the grocery shopping done? I'm tired of not being able to get up and go. Any advice? Or should I just wait until he gets off from work?

my baby is 4 months old too and I have to take him with me everywhere I go. Sometimes the carrier will not fit because the carts are made differently or are newer, I find that mine will not fit at a few places I go but it almost always fits at most places. If I find it will not fit, sometimes I will put it in the big part of the cart...the place where the groceries go, obviously you cant do that if your buying a whole lot of stuff though! Have you considered a baby "backpack" lol...I dont know what they are called, but you know, those things that strap to you and the baby sits in them? My son loves them and I am able to shop hands free with him snuggled close to me, I got mine at wal mart for only about 15 or 20 bucks. Try taking him and see how it goes, you have to start sometime! The more you go, the more you will feel comfortable going out with him. Good luck!

What are your thoughts on the backpack leashes for kids?

Q. You know the ones that sometimes have animals on them & the kids wear them like backpacks but it has a "leash" attached to it that you hold so your child doesn't run off. What are your thoughts on them & have you ever used them on your kid & was one ever used on you?

One was used on me a few times as a kid but I never wanted one used for my son. I would like to know that I can control my 2 year old without one. But my mom took him today & she decided to stop by a Walmart & buy one so now my son is walking around on a leash. When I told my Dad what my mom had done he was not happy & said "he is not a animal" & I agree.

before having a hyperactive son, i was against them, however, i have used one on zachary when it was me, him, and the new baby and we were out and about together, simply because he would like to take off and it is difficult to chase him adequately and carry a baby carrier. This was only necessary once and he hated it, so the next time we went out, i told him if he was good we wouldnt use it, he was on his best behavior lol

I am flying with my 2 year old boy who is very active and cannot stay standing in line or anything?

I would need some tips and advice as to how to keep him occupied in ONE spot while I do my ticketing, go through security, and wait until boarding time. He will not stay in his stroller for long
He is 28 pounds. Should I rather use a baby carrier?

The best way to go about it would be to bring him lots of entertainment. Books, toys, markers and paper, etc. If you put him in a stroller but he has things to do he should be able to sit there, plus you'd be able to keep track of him easily. But like someone else suggested, you could also get one of those "leashes" which are really just backpacks for the child with a string and handle attached.
