is the winter weather too cold to take my 4 month old for a walk?

I was wondering if it is too cold to go for a walk outside with my 4 month old son. I have gained a lot of weight due to my birthcontrol this winter and I was thinking about going for a walk everyday, nice weather depending, to help with losing some weight. I have a baby carrier thats like a backpack where you carry the baby in front of you (Snugli) and if i put a heavy outfit on him underneath his snowsuit if that would be warm enough for him to go for a walk with me. I live in South Glens Falls, NY and the temperature ranges from the 20's to the 40's on a nce day. His snowsuit is made of thick "soft" material and has a hood. he also wears a warm winter hat. i would also dress him very warmly underneath. Im a stay at home mom so i have him by myself all of the time and it would also benefit him as well as myself. Do you think that this is a good idea? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated!! Thanks!

At first I didn't want to take my 4 month old out in this chilly weather, but it gets quite boring being cooped up inside all the time. I bundle her up nice and warm with a warm hat and she is fine. The fresh air is good for her and she really likes the sounds and sights around town.

As long as he's warm, there should be no harm!

People are not using bumpers anymore because some studies are trying to say they can cause SIDS. I don't know if I agree with that or not, but fyi.
I actually like and use TONS of blankets of different thickness and texture.
Similac bottles are awesome! They cost a lot, but they work (less gas, etc. and my baby likes that kind of nipple.
Bottle warmers don't work. Run the bottle under hot water, or like the rest of us, microwave. They only suppose to be room temperature, so if there is a "hot" spot, it should just be "warm". Had 3 babies and never had a problem.

Actually, I would get more washcloths...in the beginning you'll be using them for butt and face, throwing the butt ones away, then realizing you have a pile for butt and another pile for face! Can actually use more than 4.
Bassinets are a waste of money...baby isn't in it long (if at all). Use the play pack.
Read up on it...baby laundry soap is pointless. I confirmed this when I washed all my newborns clothes with my generic laundry soap. She had sensitive skin and STILL...ZERO problems with the detergent.
Diapers...you cannot predict how many you will use. I had 2 kids in the 6lb range that went through only one bag of newborn diapers. My 3rd, weighing 5 lb 7 is on her 3rd bag of preemies I wasn't expecting to buy. Luvs and Huggies are the best.
After raising 2 kids and having a 3rd, I've learned the hard way that things don't last. For this one, I bought ALL plastic kid size drawers. But yes, I at least got them in pretty girl colors, but I'm not going to care when she decides to destroy it all.
Onesies are nice but you won't need 36 of them.
Formula you don't want to buy ahead because you don't know if your baby will have allergies. I think most people will start their baby on Similac, but I don't think there are any bad brands out there. Good luck!

we are going on vacation for 4 days.. Which stores would i be able to find one? my nephew had one with disney characters but it seems like i can't find a single one..

and another question how much clothes would you pack??

Target has backpacks with characters, but not really suitcases. YOu might have to try Amazon. Or as your nephew's mom where she got it!

Baby clothes are small - take more rather than less. I think I brought 2 outfits per day for my dd at that age, plus some layering clothes - ie long sleeves and/or a sweatshirt, pants - even with warm days it can be cool at night. Also bring an extra sleep outfit. Even if you have access to laundry you don't want to be bothering your host about it too often.

Can a breastfeed baby of three months, be given the bottle only for four days, then go back to breastfeeding?

My baby is now a month old. She is currently both breastfed by her mother and given a bottle (which contains pumped milk, not formula). We want to go on a vacation when the baby will be 3 months old, where the baby will be left with her grandmother. If our daughter is given a bottle for those 4 days, when we get back, will she be able to go back to breastfeeding? Any personal experience or insight would be great.

I think that it is very unwise to leave a 3 month old baby, even if not breastfeeding. There is no way to explain to the baby where mother is and when she will be back. And there is no guarantee that she will go back to the breast when the mother returns. Plus, mother will have to pump regularly day and night in order to preserve her milk supply and be comfortable while away (at least every 3 hours) with a large, double electric pump. Babies whose mothers disappear, even temporarily, have been known to grieve for them.

Have you considered taking the baby with you? Babies are easy to travel with at this age, especially when breastfeeding. All you really need is a baby carrier and a backpack for diapers and some extra clothing. My babies always slept well at the beach under an umbrella and towel.

Even if the mother is currently considering such a trip away from the baby, she might well have second thoughts in 2 months and be reluctant to go away. Is she enthusiastic about this idea?

In answer to your question about the baby going back to exclusive breastfeeding: maybe the baby will start breastfeeding again. But it might take several days and a lot of effort on the mother's part when she returns, and the baby will have to go back to exclusive breastfeeding, at least temporarily (no bottles at all).

it is ergonomically designed for the wearer and the rider.

wearer - wears like a back pack, sternum belt, wide shoulder straps, thick lumbar supportive waist strap.

rider - baby sits in a more natural position where his/her weight is distributed across the butt and thighs... does not hang by the crotch like bjorns/snuggli type carriers

it goes up to 40lbs... though that recommendation is for the comfort of the adult, not because the straps, fabric, buckles can't hold anymore... one picture on their website is a 100lb woman in it!! I still use mine for my 44lb 4 yr old on odd occassions like when we've been at the zoo or the flea market for too long and she's tired, it folds down pretty well and I tuck it at the bottom of my backpack when we're having a big excursion like that.
