I am about to have my second baby and I will have two kids under the age of two so I'm thinking I will need a baby sling or something. With my first son I used the snugli carrier, it was okay but I would prefer something else that is more comfortable. I've been looking at those baby slings that look like little shells that rest on the side of your hip, but I have gotten mixed reviews on that. Some women say it's great to have, some say they are terribly uncomfortable. I've also seen some type of wraps lately and have been wondering about those. Can anyone recomend any of these through experience? Thanks

I have a "hotsling", a "new native carrier", a "baby bjyorn" and the "infantino sling rider"... here's what i have to say about them
the hotsling... i like the best. my son is 5 months old and i use it to carry him on my hip. when he was smaller (he's 22 lbs now) i used the other carries, and was able to nurse him while chasing after (well not running, but able to move while nursing) a 2 and 3 year old.
the new native carrier... mine never fit right, when he was little, but i can still use it for the hip carry. i like the strechyness of the hotsling better.
baby bjoirn... i assume is similar to your snugli but it hurts my back too much except for when he was like 10 lbs. my son got too heavy to ever really wear facing forwards comfortably, but i could see it being great.
infantino sling rider... worked well for when he was under 18 lbs and sleeping, he never liked it awake
the type of carrier, i have looked into (and the only one i registered for at my shower) was a mei tai carrier... which i think i would have like best, and still might pick it up, if i don't find a good framed backpack reasonably.

HELP PLEASE-baby carrier poll?
cindermom
I am looking for a good baby carrier for my 1-month-old son. I bought an over-the-shoulder-baby-holder brand sling for him. It claimed to be the best sling on the market but I felt like he was going to fall out of it and I ended up having to use my hands to hold him steady which completely defeats the purpose of a baby carrier which is to be HANDS FREE. Maybe I put him in the sling incorrectly???
Now I'm looking for a new baby carrier and I was wondering if you moms out there can help me decide among all of the options in baby carriers by giving me your reviews and letting me know what worked for you:) I'd really appreciate the help! I'm willing to spend up to $30, I've been looking at the used carriers on Ebay...

I have three different kinds of carriers and i really like all of them for different reasons. I have a woven cotten wrap type carrier like a moby style but not since it was homemade that was awesome when they were little and needed alot of support. I also have a tube sling(hotsling type thing) which i love with my toddlers when we are running around and i just want something quick to put her in to give me free hands its good for older ones with more head/neck support. And lastly i have a Mei Tai style carrier again homemade that i like for longer outings...Its comfy and easy to tie and take and put baby into and out of and i can wear it for hours and hubbie will even wear it he says its like wearing a backpack so he likes it. If You can sew at all you make any kind you want too really for alot less than they cost in store or try to find some on a really good sale.....But those are the three i like...:)
Good Luck finding something that works.
