How do you cope with pregnant girlfriend while away?

We arrived into Australia from Scotland to backpack to find a week later she is pregnant. She has returned home but i have stayed as i could not afford to leave just yet. Im from New Zealand (havnt been home in 3 years) and now its turned into a quest to get back to Scotland permanately but so far we only speak online and somtimes on the phone. It feels shes slipping away and i cant do much about it from here. I send flowers and chocolates but everything i do does not seem to be appreciated. Her hormones are raging, very contradicting and self centred. Ive tryed telling her im trying my hardest to get back (i cannot go over there with no money a rely on her family), its been 6 weeks since she went home. she is 4 months pregnant. What else can a man do but try his hardest and bite his tongue? i just wish i were over there for when she needs me...this distance thing is really getting to us.

Im so sorry. I can only advise to use lots and lots of sweet words. It will be like taming a lion. You don't ever hit a lion, you just sweet talk him into submission. Even when you think you have her eating out of your hand she will bite it. Don't get angry, this is her testing time, she is pushing you to see what kind of father and or future husband you will be. And believe me when it is all over she will sing your praise to everyone. Use a soft low voice and make the words sweeter than honey. I was there I know what she is going through. If you love her, then it can work it self out. Reach out to her as often as you can, sit and listen to her talk. A lot of stuff is running through her head right now and she is in no mood for resistance. Also, after the baby is born, the hormone rage is not over yet, she will go through a bout of postpartum depression. Keep the sweetness coming, hold her a lot (I figure you will be home by then) tell her she is beautiful and a wonderful mother. You will be helping her out of a hole she might be spiraling into.
